The World Boxing Council (WBC) made the announcement today that it will produce a unique memorial belt for Queen Elizabeth called “The Elizabethan Belt.”

This belt will be presented to the victor of the fight between World Champion Claressa Shields and World Featherweight Champion Savannah Marshall, which will take place on October 15, 2022 at The O2 Arena in London.

The significance of this significant “Flip” will award a supreme female boxing champion and further improve the grandeur of women’s boxing. This event will celebrate the beautiful seventieth year of Queen Elizabeth II’s reign and commemorate the Monarch For The Ages.

Befitting both the majesty of the woman in whose name and image it is created as well as the significance of the all-female boxing event featuring the Shields vs. Marshall main event for the Undisputed Middleweight Championship of the World, the Elizabethan Belt will be designed in a way that is tasteful, respectful, and lavish. It will be named after the woman in whose name and image it is created.

Queen

Boxing, the present rules of which were developed by the Marquis of Queensbury, is a treasured part of the British sporting legacy, so much so that it is known as The Noble Art. The Marquis of Queensbury was responsible for establishing the modern rules of boxing. King George VI, the Queen’s father, was known to be an avid boxing lover. While he was completely engrossed in and committed to the well-known radio transmission, he enthusiastically supported Randolph Turpin in his victory over Sugar Ray Robinson.

After the demise of Her Majesty and the passing of the sceptre or torch from one epoch and era to another, a number of sporting events across the entirety of Britain were respectfully set aside and postponed. Among these was the card that was to be headlined by Claressa Shields vs. Savannah Marshall and Mikaela Mayer vs. Alycia Baumgardner.

After the demise of Queen Elizabeth at the age of 96, a period of ten days of official and somber national mourning was observed in the United Kingdom. Very few people in the United Kingdom had ever known another monarch in their entire lives, so everyone wanted to give her a spectacular, emotional, and sincere send-off that was worthy of the wonderful legacy she left behind for the country, the Commonwealth, and the rest of the world.

Now, after that appropriate length of time for respect and reflection, it has been revealed that the new date for these two historic fights for female world titles will take place at The O2 Arena in London on October 15th. These fights are scheduled to take place on October 15th.

WBC, WBA, and IBF middleweight champion Claressa Shields (12-0, 2KOs) and the WBO champion Savannah Marshall (12-0, 10KOs) will meet in a long-awaited fight for the undisputed 160-pound championship, while in the main support fight, Alycia Baumgardner, WBC super featherweight champion, faces Mikaela Mayer, who is the IBF and WBO champion. Both fighters have a perfect record of 12-0 with 10 knockouts

The rest of the card will feature interesting bouts in which a number of well-known and talented female boxers will compete. Among those boxers will be a number of Olympians, including Lauren Price, who won the gold medal at the Olympics in 2020, Karriss Artingstall, who won the bronze medal at the Olympics in 2020, Caroline Dubois, who competed for Great Britain last summer in Tokyo, and Ginny Fuchs, who will compete for the United States in the Olympics in 2020

WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman stated that “Queen Elizabeth II will live eternally in our hearts and minds,” and that “the boxing world unites to offer honor to one of the greatest human beings that ever lived, here where boxing was started.”

Ben Shalom, BOXXER CEO & Founder, said: “This is a great tribute that will be paid to the late Queen Elizabeth II during an event that will go down in boxing history. We owe Mauricio Sulaimán and the World Boxing Council an enormous debt of gratitude, and we are incredibly pleased of our partnership with them. The Elizabethan Belt will serve as an extra unique incentive for both of the combatants, and this wonderful commemorative championship will serve as the ideal legacy for the victor of the battle.”

According to Dimitriy Salita, who was the founder of both Professional Fighter and Salita Promotions in the past, “We look to the story and persona of Queen Elizabeth, who in an ever-changing world showed what it means to lead with class, tact, and dignity. Because this is the first event of its kind for women in the sporting world, we take inspiration from her. I would like to express my gratitude to President Mr. Sulaiman and the World Boxing Council for presenting me with this belt, as it will serve as a reminder of the connection between exceptional women both inside and outside of the ring “.

We are honored to be able to pay tribute to Queen Elizabeth II, one of the most remarkable women who has ever lived. This tribute was shared with Boxxer promotions, but most importantly with Shields and Marshall, who wrote the obituary that read, “The United States and the United Kingdom honor Queen Elizabeth II for eternal memory.”
