Over the course of the weekend, Deontay Wilder sent a warning to Oleksandr Usyk, stating that his team will be in touch to attempt to organize a fight for 2023.
At the press conference following his one-round destruction of Robert Helenius at the Barclays Center, Wilder was quick to reassure journalists that Usyk, who called Wilder out only a few weeks ago, was very much on the American’s hit list. The press conference took place after Wilder had finished his one-round destruction of Robert Helenius.
“If Usyk stays true to his word, it will come as a huge surprise to me. I am a man of my word, and I always stay true to the beliefs that guide me.

“We’ll see what happens but I’ll keep Usyk to his word. We are going to call his team and speak to whatever his handler is, and then we will determine what the situation is.
“If he is a man of his word, then this is going to be one hell of a fight,” said the other person.
Since Wilder’s victory over the weekend, fans have been actively speculating online about the possibility of a fight between Usyk and Wilder. The boxing community appears to be divided over whether it would be Usyk’s unparalleled skills or Wilder’s terrifying power that would prove to be the deciding factor in such a fight.
However, it is more likely that Wilder will face PBC stablemate Andy Ruiz Jr. in 2019, as opposed to Usyk, as talks for a final eliminator between the two for the WBC belt are apparently underway.
This means that if the fight is made, and Wilder is successful against Ruiz, fans could be looking at a FOURTH bout between ‘The Bronze Bomber’ and his long-time adversary Tyson Fury, who is the current holder of the WBC belt.
