Jerwin Ancajas, who once held the title of world champion, has said that he plans to return to the boxing ring in the month of February 2023.
Ancajas, who just just competed in a rematch against Fernando Martinez, the current IBF junior bantamweight champion, announced the news via social media. In that fight, Sherwin suffered a points defeat.
“February na ang objective na buwan, sigurado na sa Pilipinas. Hinahanapan na lang ng venue, “stated the champion of the junior bantam division in the past.
“Hindi pa alam kung sinong makakalaban pero maghanda tayo dyan. Kailangang bumalik agad sa ensayo.”

Ancajas recently stated that he will go up to the bantamweight division in order to improve his performance after having difficulties competing at the 115-pound limit.
“Aakyat na po tayo ng timbang sa 118. Sana palarin tayong makabalik sa taas, “he added.
In the championship rematch, which took place in Carson, California, Martinez successfully defended the crown that he had won from Ancajas in February by receiving scores of 119-109, 118-110, and 118-110 from the judges.
Martinez defeated Ancajas in February in Las Vegas through unanimous decision to win the IBF 115-pound title and take it away from Ancajas, who had been undefeated in 21 fights spanning a decade. This ended the unbeaten streak of the Filipino fighter.
